morning to you. thanks for joining us. i'm kris sanchez. federal investigators and the people who survived the san bruno blast will return to the nabd this morning looking for the same thing. answers to how could this happen. we have live team coverage today in the bay's bob redell has a story of the people who live there and lost so much but we begin with christy smith with the latest. >> reporter: good morning to you. you know, ntsb investigators are beginning their work but they have already met with pg&e for sometime and they asked for an extensive history of this pipeline. things like excavation work around it that may have perhaps damaged it. but they say it will take time to get to the bottom of why this pipeline exploded and the fire that followed it leveled a neighborhood. here's what we know t. 30-inch gas pipeline was installed in 1956. investigators will send part to a lab in washington, d.c. for analysis. the toll is staggering, four dead, 52 people injured, seven people hospitalized with critical burns and there are still three homes left to search. if it's cool enough dogs w

to "meet the press." here in new york. congressman pence, glad to be with us on the breezy set this morning. we'll get to that. i want to get to the pledge and the thought that this is new ideas or not. i want to start on the narrow issue of tax cuts. the big tax cut debate that's part of the midterm campaign, we know congressman van hollen that the senate has kicked off the decision, kicked it back, i should say, to after the elections to take on whether or not the bush tax cuts should be extended. what will the house do on this important question? >> well, david, the house will vote before these tax cuts expire at the end of the year. whether we vote before the election or not is something we'll take a look at. i want to be very clear as to what the stakes are here. because what the republicans have said is that they're going to hold tax relief for 98% of the american people hostage until they can get permanent tax breaks for the top 2%. even though that would blow a $700 billion hole in the deficit, something that would be added to the credit cards of our children and grandchildren, and
